Information about Thailand
Thailand Experience the Variety
With a rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes of great natural beauty, Thailand is truly a land of dazzling variety. From the glorious ruins of ancient cities to the excitement of dynamic modern Bangkok: from the lush forested hills of the North to the white sandy beaches and tropical islands of the South, from sporting options to fun-filled entertainment, the Kingdom offers a kaleidoscope of sights and scenes that’ll keep you spellbound. Variety is, moreover, found not only in Thailand’s wide choice of destinations, but also in the country’s uncanny ability to lovingly preserve the past while also joyously embracing the present. Thus, Bangkok is both a city of wondrous temples and palaces that reflect the nation’s classical arts and architecture, and a thrilling metropolis bustling with today’s innovations. Similarly, other tourism centers countrywide present contrasting attractions to delight all. Whatever your preference, be it exploring jungle trails, marveling at the treasures of the past, enjoying soft adventure tours or simply lazing in the sun soaking up an enviable tan, you have every choice for the vacation of your dreams. And whatever your chosen style of holiday, you can be sure that some things do remain wonderfully constant. The pleasures of Thailand’s world-renowned culinary art, its wealth of shopping delights, its superb choice of hotels and resorts, and, of course, its year-round sunshine promises all the perfect stay. Ultimately, however, it is the people who define the Kingdom. Genuine hospitality is a time-honored tradition among the Thais, and a warm welcome, together with smiling service, complete an unforgettable experience of Thailand’s enthralling variety.
Bangkok
Located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the traditional lifeblood of Thailand’s fertile central plains, Bangkok is a thrilling paradox. It is a city that both preserves the old with respect and embraces the new with enthusiasm. The Thai Capital for more than two centuries, Bangkok has during the last 20 years undergone more changes than at any other periods in its history. Concrete and glass high-rises have reshaped the skyline and multi-lane expressways have re-mapped the city’s thoroughfares, while the sky train mass transit system and a subway are opening up new ways to experience the city. The ultimate impacts of all development are that Bangkok is now better than it had ever been-greener and it’s more comfortable, quicker and simpler to get around. Likewise, the options for shopping, dining and entertainment have vastly expanded in the last couple of decades. Now, modern luxury buys are available as well as traditional handicrafts; Thai restaurants and matched by others offering virtually the whole gamut of world cuisines, while entertainment can be as diverse as a classical concert at the Thailand Cultural Centre or an lrish band playing in an lrish pub. Amazingly, at the same time as developing as a thoroughly modern metropolis; Bangkok has succeeded in preserving monuments to its traditional Oriental splendor. It is still a city of temples and palaces, of golden spires and orange tiered roofs, of saffron-robed monks and serene Buddha images. The most famous classic sights, the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, remain as magnificent as ever. In its enchanting ambience as well as its major sights, Bangkok retains its own special essence. In all things there is an element of “Thainess”, a sense of style found nowhere else, which indelibly stamps the culture. Thus, Bangkok retains an unchanging and unique personality which allows the travelers to discover somewhere truly different while also enjoying all modern conveniences. Phuket
Justly famous as one of the World’s premier tropical beach resorts, Phuket blends extraordinary natural beauty with superb tourism facilities to ensure the perfect vacation in the sun. Against a backdrop of green hills, the western coast of what is Thailand’s largest island is blessed with a whole string of magnificent beaches and coves bathed by the clear blue water of the Andaman Sea. Nature’s bounty is then matched by luxury hotels and resorts of the highest international standard while pleasure and sheer indulgence like water sports, yachting, scuba diving, golf, spa treatments, exquisite dining, and more are also available there for your leisure. Yet Phuket in not just an island in the sun; as a province in its own right, it has a wealth of scenic and cultural attractions. The Buddhist temples, the Chinese pagodas, and the Muslim mosques, as well as the fabulous annual Vegetarian Festival, attest to a multi-cultural history; magnificent mansions built in the Sino-Protuguese style tell the story of riches made from tin mining in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and both the rubber and coconut plantations contrast with areas of surviving virgin forest in a refreshingly green landscape. In all, Phuket is an island of unparalleled beauty and unique cultural traditions, a place to explore as well as to relax totally and relish the vacation of lifetime.
Phang Nga
Located immediately north of Phuket, Phang Nga is renowned for its island-studded bay of haunting natural beauty. Typically, you approach this wondrous seascape down a river estuary where mangrove swamps evoke a primeval mood. The eeriness takes a dramatic turn as the estuary widens and the bay is suddenly revealed sprouting countless, weirdly shaped limestone outcrops swathed in tangles of creepers and shrubs. Some rise sheer from the water, others are humped or jagged and all present an unearthly aspect. One is particularly famous; known as the “James Bond Island”. It was a location for the movie “The Man with the Golden Gun”. A different attraction awaits off the northern shores of Phang-nga, where the waters around the Similan and Surin island groups present ideal conditions for scuba diving, the underwater world teeming with tropical fish and abounding in breathtaking coral formations.
